Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are both Men In Blue but with different shades. They share a thing common between them off the field — both a small States with high intent to play and have a fantastic talent pool.

It is evident that Afghanistan has earned a lot of praise due to its evolving with the time as they have been highly consistent.  They thrashed Pakistan in their Warm-Up match, and some of the stars always have in the eyes of everyone.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, has a more downward performance than an upward. From the start of 2019, they have won just one match out of 10 and was more dreadful in 2018.

Pitch Conditions And Weather

Sri Lanka played their previous match here in Sophia Gardens against New Zealand where the targets have been as high as 300 and as low as the last match 137. The pitch was excellent, and we saw how New Zealand chased the target of 136 quickly whereas Lankans suffered a lot.

Team Analysis:

Afghanistan are entering as underdogs and might possibly win against Sri Lanka

Afghanistan showed its capability in the last match against Australia. A knock by Rahmat Shah and Najibullah Zadran took them till 100 and then a cameo by Rashid Khan with three sixes, and two fours showed his glimpse of batting. The openers had duck in their hands, but they are destructive, and the teams know it.

Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman were the most suffering bowlers, and they might need to get back on track. Hamid Hassan showed an excellent performance with the ball and can be one of the dependable for the teams bowling department.

Sri Lanka had a shoddy beating in the previous match as they couldn’t get in a wicket. New Zealand openers were enough to give a mental toll on the bowlers. Watching run-rate graph after a sudden drop till the fourth over and then it went up and up.

The batsmen also did not deliver the performance which was needed by them. Karunartne played a captain’s knock, but that was still a below-par performance due to his low strike rate. Well with all these things still they have a lot of time to get in the groove.
