Toss: Steve Smith have won the toss and elected to bowl

Weather update: It has been raining since few hours and game is going to start pretty late as covers are on. Stumps had been erected, but the whole square is under covers. the cut-off for a 5-overs-a-side contest. Also, we’ve started to lose overs, 9pm was the cut-off. Though the umpires have to convey how many overs we lose. That will of course happen only later now, once it stops raining for good.”

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to open

First over:

Varun Aaron opens the attack and he gets quite a welcome from Kohli. A six over long-off is followed by a six over third man. The RCB skipper takes a single off the third delivery and watches de Villiers do some more damage. An outside edge travels to the boundary, and AB takes a couple off the next. The last ball is a four to deep midwicket as RCB amass 23.

Second over:

Hat-trick by mystery spinner

Firstly Shreyas Gopal is greeted with a six by Kohli, over long on, followed by a thumping drive past mid off for a four. A fine piece of fielding by Liam Livingstone restricts the third one to a couple. And the skipper finally falls, finding the same fielder to depart for a 7-ball 25. The third time in 12 deliveries that Shreyas Gopal has dismissed the RCB captain. De Villiers falls off the next delivery, miscuing one. Shreyas caps off a fine over with a hat-trick as Marcus Stoinis hits one straight to Steven Smith at mid-off. RCB 35/3.

Hat tricks for RR:

A Chandilla vs PWI, Jaipur, 2012

P Tambe vs KKR, Ahmedabad, 2014

S Watson vs SRH, Ahmedabad, 2014

S Gopal vs RCB, Bengaluru, 2019

Third over:

A relatively quiet over from Riyan Parag, who concedes 2, 1 and 2 off his first three deliveries before being hit for a four by Gurkeerat Singh Mann. But the bowler has the last laugh as Gurkeerat departs off the next delivery. The last ball is a single. RCB are 45/4.

Fourth over:

Jaydev Unadkat is brought on and he starts by conceding a single, before Parthiv Patel gets a top edge for a four. This is followed by two couples and a dot before RCB lose another wicket as Parthiv finds Oshane Thomas at fine leg while attempting a cheeky shot. RCB are 54/5.

Fifth over; RCB finish with a low par 62:

The fifth over, which was bowled by Thomas, began with a no-ball. Klassen and Negi, though, couldn’t make the most in the over, which yielded only eight runs and two dismissals. But the initial assault by Kohli and de Villiers has helped RCB set a daunting target, with RR needing to score at over 12 an over.

4-0-22-2 (Kohli, AB)

4-0-16-4 (AB, Parthiv, Mandeep, Moeen Ali)

3-0-12-3 (Kohli, AB, Hetmyer)
