Match no -8 RR V/S SRH : SANJU’s ton in vain as WARNER’s blistering 69 helps win with an over to spare

Buildup

It’s clash between two Australian paws Steven Smith vs David Warner.

Actually they’re not the captains but just the feeling that they are up against each other makes me pumped.

I’m hell lot excited to see them after 2 years ban.lets see what they are capable of.

Toss: Rajasthan Royals opt to bat

Teams:

Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Ajinkya Rahane(c), Jos Buttler(w), Sanju Samson, Steven Smith, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Shreyas Gopal, Dhawal Kulkarni

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): David Warner, Jonny Bairstow(w), Kane Williamson(c), Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Manish Pandey, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul

RR opens up with captain Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler

Buttler gets butter

Rashid strikes

Big breakthrough for SRH. A quick legbreak on leg stump from Rashid Khan, Buttler tries to sweep but gets a glove on it before dragging it onto the stumps. The bowler is pumped and rightly so, that’s a huge blow for RR.Sanju samson comes to crease.

Arch Nemeses of Joss Buttler in IPL

4 – Rashid Khan

2 – Ashish Nehra, Mohit Sharma, Dwayne Bravo, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Amit Mishra

Harsha bhoggleTremendous move by Kane Williamson to bring Rashid Khan to bowl earlier than normal with a view to attacking Buttler. Now has got him 3 times in 8 balls.

Slow start by RR

SRH have been brilliant in the powerplay, conceding only 35 and getting the wicket of Buttler to boot. Now it all depends upon Sanju Samson

Rahane & Samson steady the RR ship

The partnership is worth 81 after 50 balls together. This is setting up the Royals quite nicely.

Half centuries for Samson, Rahane

Both batsmen have raced along after the powerplay. Rahane gets his 27th IPL fifty while Samson gets his 11th. SRH are struggling after that Rashid strike. None of their bowlers have threatened to take a wicket.

Nandu aka Nadeem gets Rahane

The 119-run stand has been broken by Nadeem. Rahane chips down the track and chips it to long on.

Sanju blasts bhuvi

He’s taken 24 runs off an over single-handedly against Bhuvi with lovely strokes of increasing class. All the boundaries through the offside, and all absolutely gorgeous. Samson arrives in the IPL, as he does always.

Sanjay manjrekar – I know he is not consistent enough at the domestic level etc, but when on song, how many Indians can bat like Sanju Samson does? Not many.

It’s a Ton baby (for Samson) & RR finish with 198

The death overs have taken the Royals to a mammoth total. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets hit for 20 runs in his final over as well. And Samson gets to his second IPL ton amidst the end carnage. That will take some chasing.

Gaurav kapoor – When you’re called SANJU you’re bound to be a SUPERHIT.

SRH needs 199 to win

So the chase begins

David Warner and Johnny Bairstow comes to crease

SRH off to a blazing start

Warner has hit a 29-ball fifty in this chase. He’s been finding boundaries on both sides of the ground.SRH have 69 after the powerplay.

69/0 after 6 overs

Ohhh how much i’ve missed warner’s batting these years

Absolutely amazing I can’t describe in words like how i feel.

Wow! The partnership is now 100

Boy, what a stand this has been between Bairstow and Warner. The latter has done most of the damage but the 100-run stand comes up in under 9 overs.

Stokes says bye! bye! to Warner

The quick, short ball finally does the trick for Rajasthan Royals. Warner plays a half-hearted pull and ends up top-edging it to fine leg. End of a blistering knock of 37-ball 69 and a 110-run opening stand. It’s 110/1

Ohh my gosh!!! Dhawal drops an absolutely sitter

Stokes could have had two wickets in that over. Bairstow gets a thick edge down to third man where Dhawal misses a simple catch. How costly is that going to be?

Dhawal takes a fantastic catch

After that drop, Dhawal pulls off a spectacular catch at long off to end Bairstow’s stay. The lofted shot, off Gopal, wasn’t timed well but still seemed to be going over the rope. Dhawal times his jump to perfection just inches inside the rope and takes a stunning catch.

Dhawal Kulkarni is an enigma!! He drops a sitter and now takes a crackerjack catch!!!!!

Gujju boy Unadkat gets Williamson

Vijay Shankar is playing a very neat cameo at the other end and has kept SRH comfortable. But Williamson too tries to get into the act and cuts an Unadkat ball straight to point. A tight finish is at stake i guess.

There are two overs from Jofra Archer as well. This could get very tight.

Shankar goes upar!!!

He hits a googly from Shreyas Gopal to long on after a 15-ball 35. Manish pandey comes to crease.

The equation is SRH need 32 off 27 balls now.

Pandey goes for golden duck

Manish pandey misses the googly and is caught plumb in front. Gopal gets two in two. Another gujju boy Yusuf pathan comes in.

Is there going to be a hat-trick??

Naah Rashid prevents the hat-trick.

The equation is 30 runs to get in 24 balls

Rashid, Yusuf are playing so well.

Rashid tonks Archer for a four and a six to eventually give SRH a comfortable win.

SRH’s highest successful run chase.

– Third highest successful run chase at the RG Stadium, Hyderabad in IPL.
